NASA Awareness Days

March 21-23 in Pasadena

CSULA is hosting a NASA Awareness Days recruitment effort for faculty and students, March 21-23 in Pasadena, and based on the proximity of CSUDH plus the related CSUDH SMET programs, our campus has been invited to attend. NASA currently has a number of outstanding programs that encourage talented students from SMET fields to explore careers at their agency and NASA Awareness Days represents such an effort. Posters with pertinent information, including Web sites, will be displayed in departments.

It is critical that this be done as soon as possible so as to allow for transportation and any other logistical issues associated with attendance. In fact, lodging can be arranged and supported by NASA, if necessary.

I thank you in advance for your cooperation in supporting this important activity for our students in the sciences.

Faculty registration is at        http://neo.hq.nasa.gov/faculty/

Student registration is at     www.nasajobs.nasa.gov

Please email us ASAP your information relative to your days of attendance, need for transportation, need for hotel stay (i.e. # of nights), anticipated number of students (and how many with posters). As info comes in from NASA we will let you know. At this point posters can be set up on Sunday 3/121 at 330 and will be up during the reception that evening. Monday activities in the morning will be at the hotel starting with breakfast and a plenary then at 9 followed by workshops. Lunch will also be at the hotel and then the conference will move to CSUDH with a keynote address scheduled at 2pm by an Astronaut. Tuesday’s agenda has not yet been set but it will involve opportunities for students to learn about fellowships, internships, etc.

I appreciate all of your support and enthusiasm for this program.
