Tests



 All tests (except when announced otherwise) begin at the beginning of class meeting sharp and last only about 25 minutes.  There is a lecture after each test.

Each covered Chapter and Ethical and legal prerequisites will conclude with a multiple-choice test. The date of each test will be announced one class in advance, so be prepared.

Each test will be given via Canvas.

You will need to have a Lock-Down Browser (LDB) installed on your computer BEFORE taking any quiz, test, or exam posted on Canvas for this course in section Modules

Test coverage

Test 1
(closed textbook, no notes) will cover Lecture Notes up to and including the Closing Remarks, as well as the (highlighted fragments of the) paper International law 'vs.' the American Constitution Here is a link to Study Guide.

Test 2 (closed textbook, no notes) will cover Chapter 1 and  Lecture Notes on Chapter 1 (make sure to review the slides) up to but not including Definitions: COLLECTIVISM vs. INDIVIDUALISM. Make sure to review the slides. Here is a link to Study Guide.

Test 3 (closed textbook, no notes) will cover Chapter 2,  Lecture Notes on Chapter 2, and the Readings. Make sure to review the slides.

Test 4 (closed textbook, no notes) will cover Chapter 3,  Lecture Notes on Chapter 3, and the Readings. Make sure to review the slides.

Test 5 (extra credit, optional for all students, closed textbook, no notes) will cover  the article "On the Software Patenting Controversy"

The comprehensive multiple-choice final examination will cover the material discussed in class and assigned readings.  Final requires one scantron form 882-E that you are required to purchase and bring with you to class.

FINAL 120 min.   Comprehensive multiple-choice, closed-textbook, no notes; covers Chapters 1 through 4 (including slides for Chapters 1 through 4), Sections 6.2, 9.3, slides for Chapter 9, and all lecture notes and assigned readings, including individual readings, such as slides Limits of Computability and others listed in the Syllabus. In particular, it will cover all the material covered by Tests 1 trough  3 and Test 5, AND all the material covered by the lectures and slides presented in class, including all the material covered after the last test, in particualr, the slides on Limits of Computability and the Lecture on Population. There will be some emphasis on the required material that was not covered by Tests 1 through 3. See the Syllabus for coverage details.
